What are those statues at the North Entrance?
It's now been 2 years that
visitors to the centre have been welcomed by 3 bronze
statues at the entrance. The life size sculptures
collectively called ‘ETCETERA’.
The pieces are by Crispin Guest, and were cast at the
Haligon Foundry in Paris in 1990. Nicknamed, Echo,
Tango and Charlie, they were originally commissioned for
The Waverley Centre in Edinburgh and were on display there
until the Centre was refurbished in 1998. They then
came down South, to Harrow, where they were stored until
rescued by Stephen Jaffe in 2002. In July 2003 they were
taken back North to Doncaster to be mounted on their new
plinth designed by the sculptor, Michael Johnson. Finally,
in August they were carefully positioned at their new
home at the Broadway.
